These various old style stainless steel coated clamps are used for mounting racks or fenders with no braze-on points . It is not necessary to purchase these as they come with the front racks. You may need to buy them if you are mounting a rear rack and have a bike with no rear eyelets or braze-on points. Also, if you have large forks you may need the larger size.
