These various heavy duty stainless steel rubber lined clamps are used for mounting racks or fenders with no braze-on points. The newer style is made with much heavier stainless than the previous ones we used to make. Also, the rubber coat cover can be easily removed if not wanted. It is not necessary to purchase these as they come with the front racks. You may need to buy them if you are mounting a rear rack and have a bike with no rear eyelets or braze-on points. Also, if you have large forks you may need the larger size.
